New York City, NY - Students, Teachers, Staff and Social Service Providers Find the Art of Living, Together, in NYC

Bayard Rustin Educational Complex in NYC

The Art of Living Youth Empowerment Seminar (YES!) has partnered with Asociacion Comunal de Dominicanos Progresistas (ACDP), a non-profit community social service agency that offers, among many supports, after school programming in public schools throughout NYC.  The YES! Program is an after school option that students who attend the Bayard Rustin Educational Complex (BREC) can participate in for one independent study credit.

The YES! program runs for 6 consecutive days after school and then meets weekly for 8 sessions.  The first YES! Program began at BREC in early October 2006 and the next intensive YES! will be offered in November, when more new students can join.  YES! programs will continue to be offered in the Spring of 2007 (dates to be determined).

The Art of Living Course for Educators/Social Service Providers will be offered to ACDP staff and BREC teachers/administrators in December 2006.  There is much enthusiasm for YES! from both ACDP and BREC staff, and the students who participate in the course experience the benefits immediately and have expressed that they don't want the sessions to end!  Here are a couple of testimonials from the youth at BREC:

"YES! brought me a lot of energy that I did not think I had in me.  YES! helped me a lot.  I know the breathing helped me because every morning I feel stronger than before.  My body feels better: with more energy.  And I can go deep inside myself now.  I feel good and ready to start the next course!"
Carlos, Age 15 (9th grade)

"YES! is a very powerful and helpful program.  By the end of the course I felt really good and energetic.  YES! Has helped me to get my stress out and keeps me relaxed."
Jonathan, Age 13 (9th grade)
